Lexicon of Limerence is a conspectus collection of nearly 1000 obscure words encapsulating the human condition of romantic infatuation and many of its associated ailments. Unusual, unexpected, obsolete, rare historical, multicultural and modern words to express emotions and feelings of desire, obsession, envy, heartbreak, arousal, betrayal, jealousy, romance, curiosity, humour and repulsion.
Why obscure words?...
I started posting about words on my socials a few years ago, after several decades of collecting books and dictionaries, I thought I'd start sharing some of the lesser known words I was coming across because I found them entertaining. As it turns out, many people were interested, so I started collating different categories and hence became the start of Lexicon of Limerence.
“Great coffee table book”
As a lover of language, it’s always exciting to find a book that contains words that you might not have come across before, and their meanings. I enjoyed the fun chapter at the end too- a tongue in cheek look at new made up words you could use in everyday life. A great book to give as a gift, have by your bedside or on any coffee table- some of the words would definitely spark interesting conversations! Look forward to more from this author.
